In terms of professionalism, Canon’s Pixma Pro-100 is currently the entry-level Pixma model on the market. Read on to learn more.

I have been testing this amazing Canon Pixma Pro 100 printer for the past week, and now that I’ve had a chance to print a bunch of pages, I am eager to give away my Canon Pixma Pro 100 review on this superb printer at an affordable price.

The Canon Pixma Pro 100 is a fantastic printer despite the high ink costs.  I have seen some of this printer’s best black and white prints up to 13*19 inches (A3+).

Its well-designed and handy Lightroom plugin makes printing easy, and its wireless capability is a great convenience. It’s an excellent choice when it comes to an inexpensive photo printer.

Canon Pixma Pro 100 Review

With the Canon PIXMA PRO-100, Canon has created a photo printer that’s better than ever. We love Canon’s PIXMA PRO-100S for printing photos on glossy paper. It is the perfect printer to print A3+/13-inch photos.

This printer uses eight dye-based inks, including black, grey, and light grey, to produce remarkably smooth glossy prints with excellent color reproduction as well as a great deal of tonal range for black and white photographic prints.

In both glossy and semi-gloss finishes and semi-matte, luster, and matte papers, the PIXMA PRO-100 supports photo paper and fine-art paper. With this printer, you can print borderless on paper up to 19 inches long and 13 inches wide.

Key Features

Canon Pixma Pro-100, in general, is an excellent inkjet photo printer for photographers. But for your extra knowledge, here we have shared a list of a few interesting features of this printer that makes it worth to invest:

Resolution & Cartridge

A “fine” drop of ink can be as small as 3.0 pl (dots per inch) with this printer’s resolution of 4800 x 2400 DPI.

The printer has an 8-ink system that offers a variety of color possibilities, along with three black inks for great black and white photos.

Black, Gray, and Light Gray inks are included in the ChromaLife 100+ system. Because of that, you get a richer, more dramatic expression in your black and white photos.

Paper Handling

In the Canon PIXMA Pro-100, a two-way paper feeding mechanism includes a rear tray for most supported media types and a manual feed for thick loading papers at the back.

Speed

It prints out about three photo sheets per minute (8.5″ X 11″ photo paper), typical of most professional photo printers. Though photo printers have historically been pretty slow, some might consider it slow. However, we have some great tips on how you can fix the slow printing issue.

High-resolution printing has a lot to do with it. We will discuss it next. Instead, you can get the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 if you need faster printing speeds but don’t care about quality.

Print Quality

Its maximum DPI is around 4800 x 2400, so you can easily print out a professional photo editing with Adobe Photoshop and the Canon Pro plug-in. A professional photo printer with this kind of resolution at this price is hard to find. Canon has once again proven to be a winner.

Efficiency

Unlike many other inkjet printers, the Canon Pixma Pro 100 uses fewer ink cartridges than many others. Canon conducts this separation by separating its ink tank into individual cartridges of 42 inks (black, gray, light gray, cyan, photo cyan, magenta, photo magenta, and yellow). The ink cartridges can be replaced only if they run out, saving you money.

Connection

If you want to use it elsewhere (due to its size), the Pro-100 has built-in Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi capability is perfect if you are like me and short on space or need it in another room. The setup is simple. Furthermore, it is also equipped with Air Print and mobile device printing.

Value

Canon has officially listed the Canon PIXMA Pro-100 on their website for $500. Nevertheless, the printer is only listed for $160 on B&H Photo, where it is priced at $360 with a $200 mail-in rebate. This printer is commonly eligible for rebates, and if you keep an eye out, you can often find the Canon PIXMA Pro-100 for less than $100 if purchased with a Canon camera.
